Children and Young People’s Services
We have developed a programme of personal and social development for children and young people. We provide opportunities for young people to enhance their abilities, develop key life skills, access space for socialising and develop citizenship, careers and employment skills. Our aims are to get young people healthy, socialising, involving themselves in positive activities, fulfilling their potential, speaking respectfully to each other, using appropriate language and behaviour and having fun.
Our services include:
- Under 5’s sessions (for children aged 0-5 take a look at our early years page);
- Youth clubs (including pool, table tennis, boxercise, football, arts and crafts, discussions, workshops and information, advice and guidance);
- The transition project (helping 11-13 year olds during their transition from primary to secondary school and helping young people aged 14+ with their transition into adulthood).
- The targeted youth support project;
- After school clubs;
- Open access adventure play sessions (for 5-16 year olds); and
- Workshops.
Our workshops include:
- DJ skills;
- Gang and knife crime;
- Sexual relationships education;
- Building positive relationships;
- Bullying;
- Drugs and alcohol awareness; and
- Teenage pregnancy.
We also offer:
- One to one occasional support for young people with additional/specific needs or issues;
- Funding that young people can apply for to use for residential or day trips and activities of their choice, especially during the school holidays; and
- A youth volunteering programme.

The Targeted Youth Support Project
Our project seeks to engage young people aged between 10 and 19 years who are in need of additional support or are at risk of involvement in criminal or anti-social behaviour. Participants are identified through our other services or referrals from other service providers.
Each young person who is referred to the project will be assigned a key worker who will give them one to one support. We focus on:
- Early intervention and assessment;
- Personal development plans;
- Parental support;
- Provision of diversionary activities;
- Signposting to main stream activities/services; and
- Information, advice and guidance.
Location
We work with local partners to deliver our services in a number of locations. These include our Great Suffolk Street centre in London SE1, Playspace in Waterloo, Bermondsey Village Hall and Mint Street in Borough. See our map (PDF 856KB) for information about how to get here.
